Geelong produced an outstanding display at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday, setting the tone from the opening bounce and building on their momentum each quarter to secure a convincing 113-point win over Gold Coast.

The Cats set the tone early, applying fierce pressure around the ground and standing tall in defence with a number of crucial intercepts through the midfield. Their ability to lock the ball inside the forward half resulted in a significant advantage in inside 50s during the opening term.

Jay Polkinghorne opened the scoring before James Hose, Jamieson Ballantyne and James Worpel all found the big sticks as Geelong built early momentum.

Jesse Mellor was influential in the first quarter collecting seven disposals, while Worpel continued his strong form with seven disposals, three clearances and a goal.

The Cats elevated their game even further in the second term, piling on consecutive majors to take complete control of the contest.

Hunter Holmes provided an early spark with two goals, while Nick Driscoll also booted a pair in an impressive display inside 50. Polkinghorne added another before Tanner Lewis joined the party as Geelong's forward pressure continued to trouble the Suns' defence.

Behind the ball, the Cats remained composed and disciplined, restricting Gold Coast's opportunities while continuing to generate attacking chains.

Mellor finished with 10 disposals and two marks by half time, while Lewis was busy around the contest with 11 disposals and two clearances.

Jhye Clark wasted no time after the main break, kicking the opening goal of the third quarter as Geelong maintained their dominance.

Ballantyne continued to impact, finishing the term with a goal, four kicks and four marks, while Lewis added another major to extend the Cats' lead.

Geelong's pressure around the ball remained a feature throughout the third quarter, winning both the disposal and inside 50 counts to ensure the Suns struggled to generate any sustained momentum.

The Cats finished strongly in the final term, with Lewis Antonac producing a clever snap in front of goal to cap off another impressive attacking passage.

Mitch Knevitt led from the middle in the closing stages, finishing with 24 disposals and nine clearances as Geelong also claimed the advantage in the handball count.

Several Cats stood out across the afternoon, with Tyson Stengle booting four goals in a lively performance inside 50, while Tanner Lewis also finished with four majors to complement his 18 disposals, five marks and four clearances.

Jhye Clark continued his excellent form with another impressive display through the midfield with 30 disposals, 16 kicks and a clearance. James Worpel battled hard to collect 34 disposals and 11 clearances, while James Hose contributed two goals, 19 disposals and four marks in another well-rounded performance.

The comprehensive win showcased Geelong's depth across the ground, with contributions from every line helping the Cats produce one of their most complete performances of the season at GMHBA Stadium.
