Scott on the past two weeks

We have got a high level of respect obviously for both teams. I am not sure which one is better, but I know they are both in the conversation to be the best team in the comp at the moment.

There is always a bit of trepidation when you know the strengths of the opposition teams so well, but it is pleasing to get the outcome.

I don't think any of the teams at the moment are coming away, or the teams at the top anyway, are coming away thinking that they wouldn't be a chance.

So it is nice to get the result, but I don't think there is any reason for us to be over confident.

Scott on what the Cats did well

There were a few things.

They have taken their game to another level with the way they attack, especially out of their back half and they have some real weapons coming out of that part of the ground. They are always going to play okay, it is just a matter of whether you can limit the real damage in that part of the game. I thought we did that pretty well.

Again, they had some moments where they looked pretty good and pretty efficient going forward. It is always a bit frustrating when you feel like you have the run of the game, but just couldn't put enough of a margin on the scoreboard to take advantage of the dominance that we probably had.

But again, you sort of expect going into games against them, because they do take some risks with the ball and when it comes off coming through the middle, it looks pretty good and they can score quickly.

To be able to prevail in that battle within the battle was the thing I was pleased about.

Scott on the individuals who stood out

We had some good individual performances as well.

Off the top of my head, I mean Lawson Humphries was outstanding, I think that was probably obvious to everyone wasn't it?

There was some interesting matchups throughout the course of the game, it was one of those performances where it was nice that different guys took their moments at different stages of the game.

Obviously Bailey really came into the game in the third quarter, our forwards didn't look like we were dependent on anyone guy, we had multiple threats there.

Scott on the Cats adaptability

I would like to think that I understand the game pretty well, but trying to forecast where the game is going to be towards the end of the year, I find difficult.

We are trying to work on our game and sometimes I think when you talk about that, it can sound a bit disingenuous because I don't mean that if we get our game right then we will be fine.

We have been, for a very long time, a team that does adjust a bit based on the opposition.

I guess it is the better way of explaining why we felt most pleased over the last couple of weeks, because it is really daunting opposition but they play differently.

We were able to adjust, we thought, to have the game played a little bit more like the way we wanted it played. That is the definition of the modern game I think.

Scott on the ruck battle

We really like Mitch's development, and obviously have a lot of respect for Brodie [Grundy] and what he can do.

We rarely think about it as a one-on-one match-up with our ruckman v the opposition guy, given the different players that we have in our team that can help within that role. In a way, it was all of our guys v Brodie which sometimes is not enough, because he is such a good player.

Mitch is early in his development, we have to keep reminding ourselves that he is because he is not only young, but his first couple of years in our system were injury riddled.

He never really had the opportunity even to develop physically, because he just spent so much time injured.

I am really optimistic around the sort of player he can become.
