The Geelong Cats have produced a strong performance against Sydney at GMHBA Stadium, building an advantage through relentless pressure before closing out a 14 point victory, showing dominance around the contest and efficient ball movement.

Midfielder Jack Bowes was influential throughout the afternoon collecting 39 disposals, seven clearances and a goal, while Tanner Lewis provided plenty of drive with 16 disposals, four clearances and a major of his own.

George Stevens also found plenty of the football early, gathering 23 disposals and five clearances across the game.

The Cats started brightly in the opening term, with VFL debutant Lachlan Weidemann making an immediate impact as Geelong set the tone with fierce pressure around the ball. But despite the early spark, Sydney hit back and left the Cats 20 points behind at quarter time.

Geelong's pressure lifted another level in the second quarter as they began to gain ascendancy in territory and inside 50 entries.

Oli Wiltshire sparked the Cats with two goals for the term, while Jamieson Ballantyne and Charley Green also hit the scoreboard. It was a memorable moment for debutant Zach Stevens, who kicked his first VFL goal in Cats colours.

It was a brilliant turnaround for the home side as they regularly hit the scoreboard, turning their early deficit into a eight-point lead at half time.

Hunter Holmes was instrumental in helping Geelong gain control through the middle of the ground, finishing with 25 disposals and four marks as the Cats consistently won the ball at the source and generated repeat forward entries.

The Cats carried that momentum into the third quarter, taking charge of the centre clearance battle and giving their forwards first use.

Joe Pike added another major, while Wiltshire continued his impressive afternoon with his third goal of the game, the Cats clinging on to a narrow lead at three quarter time.

Across half-back and along the wings, Lennox Hofmann provided excellent ball use and run, finishing with 26 disposals, 18 kicks and a clearance as Geelong continued to control possession and field position.

With their pressure remaining high and their midfield gaining the upper hand around stoppages, the Cats entered the final quarter in a strong position against the Swans, looking to cap off an impressive performance.

Three unanswered goals sealed the result, with Geelong clinching their fourth consecutive victory and solidifying their spot on top of the VFL ladder.
