GEELONG superstar Patrick Dangerfield is proud of the way the Cats responded against the Roos and believes they are ready for the next challenge against the Lions on Saturday.

Speaking to SEN 1116 on Tuesday morning, Dangerfield was pleased with the team’s improved performance against North Melbourne but admits ‘it doesn’t fix everything in one game’.

“It was more the way we want to play on the weekend, but Brisbane present a huge challenge this week,” Dangerfield said.

“I think the strength of the organisation has been despite the external noise is to just stay focused on the job at hand.”

“North presented a great challenge because it was back to basic footy in terms of contested possession, which they pride themselves on and we’d been poor at.”

“It was a great response from the group and this weekend provides a different opportunity and a different challenge.”

The dual Brownlow Medallist said he and his teammates are keen to make amends for their recent away trip to Perth that ended in a 34-point loss to Fremantle.

“There an exciting team to watch Brisbane, so they’re going to bring that ferocious attack and running power across the ground, they love to link up and carry through their midfield and they have got some really good players in their side, so it is a great challenge for us.”

“I think the group is ready for that because the last away game that we had we failed in that, so I think the group is ready for a dog fight.”

With both sides occupying the top two spots on the ladder, this game shapes as a defining one in helping determine who will secure a home final.

Particularly when West Coast meets Richmond in a battle between three and four.

“You look right throughout the round and you see games that really decide for some teams who is going to play in September, who is going to be top four, who is going to be top two, final six, so I think it is a great round of footy.”

“We understand that it is a critical game for us through the year and what the ramifications winning it has for us, so we will learn about Brissy, they will learn about us and the plan is to come out on top."
