29-points was the difference for both the Blues and the Cats in round three.

The two sides travelled interstate for their respective matches last weekend, however the teams returned to Victoria with opposing results.

Carlton travelled to Blacktown International Sports Park where they had a 29-point win over the GWS Giants.

The Blues comprehensive victory over the home side was largely thanks to NAB Rising Star nominee Maddy Prespakis and tall forward Tayla Harris who both contributed with three goals.

Harris was reported during the game for rough conduct following a solid hip and shoulder on Giants defender Pepa Randall. However, after initially receiving a one-match suspension Harris’ charge was later downgraded to a reprimand meaning she is free to play this weekend.

The Cats suffered their second consecutive loss going down by 29-points to a well-drilled Adelaide side who dominated in centre clearances and inside 50s.

The warm conditions didn’t suit the Cats and Adelaide stars Erin Phillips, Ebony Marinoff and Chelsea Randall showed why they are some of the best players in the competition.

A positive for the Cats from the weekend included an exceptional defensive performance by Maddy McMahon who took a number of intercept marks and provided rebound out of the Crows’ 50.

Another positive was the Cats conversion rate when inside 50, scoring 6.1 from 16 forward entries.

Three questions

Will the Cats have their second win against the Blues this year?

In mid-January these two sides met in a practice match at Ikon Park where the Cats came away victors by just two-points. Since then the Cats have lost key midfielder and number one draft pick Nina Morrison who impressed in that game. How will the result change now these two sides are fighting for premiership points?

Where will Bri Davey line up?

In the first two seasons of AFLW Blues captain Bri Davey was a defender. In the practice match between these two sides earlier in the year Davey played as a deep forward kicking three goals. In her team’s round three game, Davey started in the middle. Where will the marquee star line up on Saturday?

Home ground advantage

The Cats will play at home for the first time since their round one victory against Collingwood in front of a crowd of 18,500. Will GMHBA Stadium and stands full of Cats supporters inspire Geelong?

Saturday's match kicks-off at 4.45pm with gates open an hour prior.
