The Cats can provide the following GMHBA Health Update ahead of Geelong’s Thursday night blockbuster against Adelaide.

Patrick Dangerfield will be sidelined for the next 1-2 weeks with a calf injury coming out of the Round 1 clash with the Dockers.

Geelong Cats EGM Football, Andrew Mackie said, “Pat reported some calf soreness following the match against Fremantle, with subsequent assessment and scans confirming a low grade calf injury.

“Given Pat missed our opening round game with a similar complaint, we’ll take a cautious approach and get some loading into his training with his return to play at this stage earmarked for Easter Monday, or the week after.”

Following Friday night’s VFL season opener, Jay Polkinghorne showed early signs of overloading to his foot. The Club will assess him further and take a conservative approach to manage his symptoms, ensuring he is well supported for a strong return to play.

While Toby Conway’s return to play is still to be confirmed, he hit a milestone this week, completing his first outdoor run with the team in Monday’s training session being greeted by a rapturous applause from his teammates.

The Cats return to GMHBA Stadium this Thursday 26 March for a 7.30pm kick off. Secure your ticket today via Ticketmaster
