The Geelong Cats have made a further change to its AFLW playing list after informing Caitlin Thorne she will not be offered a contract for 2026.

Thorne joined Geelong as a replacement signing ahead of the 2024 season following an impressive two seasons with Box Hill Hawks in the VFLW after moving to Victoria from Queensland.

Able to play across halfback and through the midfield when she was recruited, Thorne added another string to her bow at the Cats, also playing as a pressure forward.

The 22-year-old played 11 games across two seasons at the Cats, with her tackling and pressure work a feature of her games.

Geelong Cats Head of AFLW Dominique Condo said:

“Caitlin embraced our program and was a great teammate as she continued to grow and develop her game over the past two seasons. We wish her all the best on the next phase of her journey."

The AFLW Trade Period runs from Thursday 4 December - Wednesday 10 December, with the 2025 Telstra AFLW Draft to be held on Monday 15 December.
