69. Isaac Smith winds back the clock and retrieves his own footy

The Covid period certainly threw up its fair share of challenges in the AFL.

It even had the ability to return players from the highest level of the sport to their local days, nobody understood that better than Isaac Smith.

During the Cats clash with the Western Bulldogs in 2021, a maximum crowd of 7,000 people were allowed into GMHBA Stadium and a rogue footy found its way into the grandstand.

With nobody to return the ball, Smith was forced to jump the fence and retrieve it himself, which provided quite the spectacle from the four-time premiership player.

70. Jezza gives away his premiership medal

The 2022 Grand Final was special in more ways than one for the Geelong Football Club.

After a number of close misses in the years leading up to it, the Cats finally broke through and claimed the ultimate prize, when they triumphed over Sydney on the last Saturday in September.

Geelong players and fans celebrated accordingly, with the festivities and scenes rolling on long after the final siren had sounded.

Perhaps the most iconic celebration came from Jeremy Cameron, when he hung his premiership medal around the neck of a cow at his farm, providing one of the most hilarious videos.

71. Celebrating 100 years of the Carji Greeves Medal

Recognising an iconic champion of the Geelong Football Club, the Cats Best and Fairest is aptly named after the great Edward 'Carji' Greeves.

Greeves was a two-time premiership player with the Cats, while also winning the inaugural Brownlow Medal in 1924.

The Carji Greeves Medal reached its 100th year in 2024, with star Cat Max Holmes taking the award home for the first time.

Holmes polled 164 votes to finish clear on top of the leaderboard, beating Zach Guthrie in second place (120 votes) and Jeremy Cameron in third (118 votes).

72. Sleepy Hollow awakens to celebrate the end of a premiership drought

While the celebrations after the 2022 Grand Final were incredible, nothing can top the aftermath of the 2007 AFL season.

After a 44-year premiership drought, the Cats finally reached the pinnacle of football in emphatic fashion, thumping Port Adelaide by a Grand Final record margin to get their hands back on the premiership cup.

The city of Geelong went wild.

People were celebrating in the streets until all hours of the night, cars were swamped as they drove down the road, strangers embraced and grown men were reduced to tears.

It all showed the passion of football in Geelong, and what this premiership meant to a town that had been starved of success for so long.

73. Tuohy's act of kindness in a chaotic moment

Even though it happened against Geelong, you could not help but marvel as Lance 'Buddy' Franklin became the fifth player in the games history to kick 1000 career goals, when the Cats faced Sydney early in the 2022 season.

It was quite the spectacle as thousands upon thousands of fans poured onto the SCG, but one moment in particular stood out from a Geelong point of view.

With the players stuck amongst the hordes or people, Zach Tuohy received a rather hefty knock from a spectator, enough to bump some of the patron's personal belongings out of his pocket.

In the midst of the huge crowd descending upon the SCG, Tuohy tracked down the patron and handed back his belongings in a brilliant moment that showed the Irishman's true colours.

74. Hunter's Moment with the Cats

Some things in life are bigger than football.

During the 2025 season, a young man by the name of Hunter Hamilton visited GMHBA Stadium, a passionate Geelong supporter and football follower.

Hunter was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour the year prior, undergoing major surgery and radiation for treatment, but he always kept an eye on what the Cats were up to.

He got the opportunity to meet one of his heroes, Jeremy Cameron and had a kick with the star Cat, watching training and touring the facilities in a heartwarming moment.

75. Two blockbuster acquisitions set up Geelong's future

There are a number of off-field areas that Geelong have excelled in over the journey, but the trade period is certainly one that has set the club up for future success.

At the end of the 2020 season, the Cats made a play and acquired superstar forward, Jeremy Cameron in a blockbuster deal with the GWS Giants.

In five seasons at the club, Cameron has kicked 309 goals and won a Coleman Medal, while also featuring in the 2022 premiership and earning three All-Australian blazers in that span.

Ahead of the 2025 season, Geelong secured Bailey Smith in another mega deal involving the Western Bulldogs.

While only one year into his journey with the Cats, Smith has already given plenty of signs for what is to come, receiving an All-Australian blazer and finishing third in the Brownlow Medal in his debut season with the club.

76. The club celebrates a premiership triumph as one

The 2022 Grand Final celebrations have already been touched on in this article, but the Supporters Day provided one of the most memorable scenes for any Geelong fan.

With supporters packed into the Kardinia Park, Geelong's heroes were greeted with a raucous reception as they presented the premiership cup to the Cats faithful.

Many opted to keep the sunglasses on, with every player wearing their guernsey from the day prior as they were introduced onto the stage.

Mark Blicavs went one step further, keeping on his full playing kit, as the club and its loyal fans celebrated the triumph in style.

77. Some of the club's famous Father-Son duos

Geelong has had strong family ties throughout the club's history, with a number of famous Father-Son duos pulling on the Hoops.

Perhaps the title for the most famous goes to Gary Ablett Senior and Junior, with the pair widely considered to be among the top echelon of players to every play the game.

Jack and Tom Hawkins certainly carved out an incredible legacy, as did John and Matthew Scarlett in defence for Geelong.

Andrew and Jed Bews are another duo that have had a significant impact on the club.

78. Extending one of the world's longest running partnerships

A highlight to come early in the 2025 season happened during the Cats' Round Four clash with Melbourne.

Geelong announced an exciting contract extension with Ford Australia, extending one of the world's longest-running sporting partnerships for at least another five years.

Ford and the Cats celebrated 100-years of partnership in 2025, with Ford also featuring on Geelong's guernseys since 1977.

79. A chance meeting and a connection formed

Sometimes the greatest moments come from the most unexpected circumstances.

Local athlete, Brady Nankervis was filming after a run and bumped into a lady by the name of Carolyn, who has unfortunately been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The pair discovered their mutual love for the Cats, going on to discuss Geelong's brilliant Qualifying Final victory.

Geelong then welcomed Brady and Carolyn for a special day at the club, touring the stadium and meeting some of their favourite players.

But that wasn't all, with the pair also attending Geelong's Preliminary Final and involved in the guard of honour as the Cats entered the MCG.
