The time and date for Geelong’s Round 12 clash against Melbourne have been confirmed, with the Cats set to close out their home and away season under lights at GMHBA Stadium.
Geelong will take on the Demons on Saturday, November 1 at 7:15pm, marking the 16th and potentially final opportunity for Cats members and fans to see Geelong in action at home this year, across both the women’s and men’s programs.
The upcoming match will renew a growing AFLW rivalry between the Cats and Dees, with the clubs having met several times since Geelong joined the competition. The sides first faced off in Round 5, 2023, before meeting again later that year in a dramatic Semi Final, where the Cats defeated the reigning premiers by five points to record the Club’s first AFLW finals win.
With several teams, including the Cats, still vying for finals positions, the final month of the season promises plenty of excitement and high-stakes football.
AFL Head of Strategy and Scheduling, Josh Bowler, said the final round of the 2025 NAB AFLW home and away season has the potential to shape the top eight.
“In the final round of the NAB AFLW Season there will be games that will have implications on the finals series, and there will be plenty at stake for many teams,” Bowler said.
“With so many clubs in the mix to play finals – some for the first time – it will be an exciting run home for fans, teams and players, and we hope they’ll garner strong crowds to cheer them on. The opening game of the round will be a great finals preview between two teams at the top of the table in North and Hawthorn which will provide a terrific spectacle for Friday night footy, followed by West Coast and Carlton who we know will be looking to shape the top eight when they meet at Sullivan Logistics Stadium in Leederville.
“With the McClelland Trophy up for grabs and one million dollars in prize money, there’s plenty on the line for these games and ladder positions heading into finals. Especially for teams like the Lions in their clash with Collingwood, Hawthorn up against North and Adelaide in the final game of the round against Fremantle.
“I’d like to thank all our stakeholders including our clubs and broadcast partners for their cooperation and support in creating the fixture and finalising Round 12 of the milestone 10th season.”
Following this weekend’s must-win clash against the Giants at GMHBA Stadium, Geelong will travel west to face the sixth-placed Eagles, before heading to Ballarat to meet the 15th-placed Bulldogs ahead of the Round 12 meeting with the Dees.
Tickets for this Saturday’s game against GWS are on sale now via Ticketmaster.
