The run home starts now for Geelong, as they return from their bye weekend to take on Richmond at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

With eight games remaining in the home and away season, the Cats will be looking to cement their position in the top four with only percentage separating third down to sixth on the ladder.

Geelong will also be hoping to extend their dominant record over Richmond at home, with the Tigers currently in 17th position on the ladder in the midst of a six match losing streak.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Geelong: Shannon Neale

With 19 goals to his name already in 2025, Neale will be looking to stamp his authority in the back half of the season as his forward partnership with Jeremy Cameron continues to flourish.

The key forward leads Geelong for contested marks this year, while also sitting within the club's top five for score involvements and marks inside 50.

There could be an opportunity for Neale to thrive this weekend, facing a Richmond team that has conceded 135 and 122 points to their opponents over the past fortnight.

Richmond: Nick Vlastuin

The standout leader in amongst a young and inexperienced Richmond defensive unit, Vlastuin has been very impressive despite a challenging campaign for his side so far.

Averaging over 19 disposals and six marks per game, the veteran defender leads the Tigers in Rebounds 50s, intercept possessions and intercept marks, ranking inside the AFL's top 10 players in each of those statistics this year.

Also damaging with ball in hand, Vlastuin is going at a very handy 80.4% disposal efficiency in 2025, something the Cats will need to be aware of if they want to make the most of their forward 50 entries on Saturday.

RECENT HISTORY - Geelong v Richmond

Both teams have dominated this matchup at different times over the past two decades, but Geelong have been on top more recently with four wins from their last five clashes with Richmond.

The Cats certainly had the upper hand between 2001 and 2017 winning an astonishing 20 of 21 games, before the Tigers flipped the script and triumphed in six of the next seven matches through to the end of 2020.

Since the start of 2021 the two teams have squared off five times, Geelong winning four while also holding a six game win streak over Richmond at GMHBA Stadium.
