The VFLW Cats have been defeated by a strong Box Hill outfit, going down by 90 points on Sunday afternoon. 

Geelong faced a tough task against the experienced Hawks, who currently sit second on the VFLW ladder with just two games left in the regular season. 

Poppy Schaap worked hard all day in a terrific performance for the Cats, collecting a team high 25 disposals and seven clearances. 

Abby Favell was strong on return from injury picking up 23 disposals and eight marks, while Lily Jordan put together another solid showing with 18 possessions and 10 tackles.

The Cats were met with enormous pressure in the opening term, as Box Hill capitalised on their dominance to take a 24 point lead into the quarter time break. 

The second quarter proved to be more of the same, as the Hawks made the most of their chances to extend their lead to 56 points at the main break. 

Poppy Schaap led the way for Geelong with a strong opening half, amassing 10 disposals and five clearances while Lily Jordan continued her good form with 10 possessions and five tackles.

The Cats stemmed the Hawks momentum after the main break keeping them goalless for 11 minutes, but Box Hill landed a blow with three late goals to take a 77 point lead into the last quarter. 

Geelong continued to fight hard right to the final siren, but the Hawks were too strong as they booted two more goals to take the final margin to 90 points. 

The VFLW Cats will be back in action at Deakin University next Saturday against Port Melbourne, with the opening bounce at 12.00pm.
