A trio of Cats are a test to play football this weekend as Geelong prepares for an AFL/VFL double-header against Richmond at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.
Geelong’s medical team will assess Gary Rohan (adductor), Rhys Stanley (knee) and Jed Bews (ankle) throughout the week ahead of the matches at GMHBA Stadium.
Health Update | Round 12
Brett Johnson takes us through this weeks GMHBA Health Update. Proudly Presented by GMHBA.
“Gaz has been training well so far this week, he will fully train tomorrow (Wednesday) and expect him to be available this weekend,” Geelong Cats Assistant General Manager of Football Brett Johnson said.
“Rhys hurt his medial ligament late last week and will be a test this week, and similarly, Jed has been nursing an ankle injury he sustained in the VFL.
Patrick Dangerfield (hamstring) and Cameron Guthrie (achilles) are both one-to-two weeks away as they work through their respective rehab programs.
“Both (Patrick and Cameron) are tracking along really well, ‘Danger’ is in full training with the team and, as Scotty said in his presser, we expect him to be available for the Sydney game, but we could take a conservative approach there so it could be a week later.
“‘Guth’ just had an Achilles issue post the Darwin trip that we are being conservative with, so he is still one to two weeks away.”
