Geelong is mourning the passing of long time statistician and Life Member, Stuart Field.
Field joined the Cats’ match day staff ahead of the 1986 season as one of the club’s seven official statisticians under Col Hutchison, whose role was to gather information on behalf of the coaching group, and provide them the key numbers throughout the game.
Field served in this role across a remarkable 22 seasons, 512 games in total before the industry shifted to Champion Data supplied statistics, although his final season was in 2007 when the club won its first premiership in 44 years.
He continued to provide support to the club through general match day duties for the next few years and was honoured with Life Membership in 2006 in recognition of his extraordinary dedication and passion.
Go well, Stuart.
