Geelong Premiership Captain Cameron Ling will present the Premiership Cup to Chris Scott and Joel Selwood if the Cats are successful against Sydney in Saturday’s 2022 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

Since 2004, each competing club in the Toyota AFL Grand Final can nominate a representative to present the Premiership Cup to the winning team.

Ling, a Geelong great and Premiership Captain in 2011, accepted the Club's invitation this week.

Ling played 246 games for the Cats across 12 years – was a three time Premiership Player (2007, 2009, 2011), Carji Greeves Medallist (2004), Madden Medallist (2011) and was selected in the 2007 All Australian team. Ling was presented the Premiership Cup by Doug Wade in 2011.

Ling said the opportunity presented to him is an honour he will never forget.

“As a lifelong Cats supporter, the opportunity to present the Premiership Cup on Grand Final day in 2022, if the Cats win, is an incredible honour and something I would never have even dreamed of being possible as a kid.

“I couldn’t think of anything more special than handing over the Cup to Scotty and Joel, two people who I respect so much and have great relationships with.

“It will be pretty special to watch the game with my wife and three boys and hopefully share the magical experience of a Cats premiership through their eyes.”

Geelong CEO Steve Hocking said the Club was delighted to be able to nominate Ling for the honour.

“Cameron is our most recent Premiership Captain, a player who represented our Club proudly and left nothing out on the field, particularly in Finals.

“If we are fortunate to win, it will be wonderful to see him handover the Cup to Chris and Joel on behalf of our members, fans and past players.”
