Geelong Cats have announced it has broken its all-time membership record, with the Geelong army now standing at 70,758 in 2022.

The Club has now broken its record consecutively for nine out of the last 10 years, with this year’s tally surpassing last year’s 70,293.

The milestone includes significant growth amongst the Club’s AFLW membership with 3,926 members, as well as an increase in members across interstate markets, signifying the amount of support for Geelong across Australia.

The rise in membership has coincided with Geelong being in the top four highest rating clubs for viewership across the last three seasons.

This Saturday’s final AFL match for the season at GMHBA Stadium will be dedicated to thanking members for their unwavering loyalty, with a range of celebrations and activations planned, including a post-match kick-to-kick on the field.

Geelong Chief Operating Officer Simon Kelleher paid thanks to the fans across Australia who have joined or renewed as members in 2022.

“On behalf of the entire Club I would like to thank everyone of our loyal members for helping us achieve this milestone. Our Club doesn’t grow or prosper if it isn’t for our incredible members and their ongoing support.

“Today is an exciting day for the Club and something we want to continue to build on as we forge to our goal of 100,000 members by 2025. The support from our members ensures our Club remains in a strong position on and off the field.

“It’s been wonderful seeing our members back at GMHBA Stadium and the MCG. We haven’t taken for granted the support and loyalty of our members during a challenging last two seasons.

“We will now set ourselves for the Finals campaign for the men’s season and the start of AFLW Season 7.

“Our entire Club, players and staff can’t thank our members enough for their support and we look forward to seeing as many of them at our opening women’s game at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday 28 August.”
