Drafted to the Cats as an athletic, impactful forward who could pinch-hit in the ruck at junior level, it was in defence that Gabbi Featherston made an impact in AFLW Season 6. But with spots in the senior team difficult to come by in Season 7, Featherston was unable to add to her AFLW games tally. The Geelong Falcons graduate played six games across the 2023 VFLW season, predominantly through the midfield, and also stepped back into a familiar role, pinch-hitting in the ruck to help the Cats when short on ruck options, and winning her fair share of hitouts with her vertical leap as impressive as ever.
