The Bendigo Bank VFL Cats recorded a dominant 118-point victory against Brisbane in their Round 11 clash on Friday.

The Bankers held up well through all four quarters, scoring 16 goals through the second half and converting on 66% of their inside 50s for the match to run out 26.15 (172) to 8.6 (54) victors.

Despite a well-rounded effort by the entire squad, you can’t ignore 43 touches (at 74% efficiency, 20 contested), 10 clearances, nine marks and 17 score involvements from Charlie Constable.

He covered the ground extremely well while working brilliantly out of centre bounces and stoppages with Rhys Stanley, Darcy Fort and his fellow midfielders.

With some potential changes looming for the senior side, he’s certainly making a case for selection in the coming weeks.

After last week’s match against Footscray, coach Shane O’Bree was pleased with the squad’s effort to take on all four quarters of footy.

“The advantage we got with the VFL team playing after the AFL is we get a good look at teams and how they want to play,” O’Bree said.

“Our boys really led the way with our game style and we knew what to expect from the Brisbane Lions this week.”

O’Bree was hard pressed to single out any one player as the best-on-ground, naming almost a dozen boys that played well.

“Max Holmes was really good as a high forward - his body work, his transition was really good and his pressure was really good as well,” he said.

“Constable and Clark and those boys setting off around the ball were awesome too.”

Oscar Brownless was also a standout with 30 disposals, earning him a spot in the best for the fifth time this season.

Unfortunately Jordan Clark received a bump to his left shoulder during the third quarter that ended his day.

He’ll receive scans during the week to determine the severity of the injury.

Geelong will return home to face Essendon’s VFL side in a curtain-raiser next round.

Match times will be released soon with the AFL working through fixture-issues due to the recent Covid outbreaks.
