GEELONG returned to their best in Round 6 with a huge 97-point win against West Coast at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.

The victory moved the Cats inside the top four for the first time this season.

We've broken down the stats that matter in this week’s edition of ‘By The Numbers’ presented by Deakin’s Centre for Sport Research.

Round 6 Showreel

A 10-goal second term

When Geelong entered the quarter time huddle trailing West Coast by five points, not even the most optimistic supporter would have predicted what was to come.

The Cats were on fire from the opening bounce of the second term until the half time siren, piling on 10 goals while keeping the Eagles to just one behind.

It was a simply scintillating quarter of football and one that will live long in the memory bank with Jeremy Cameron kicking his first goal in the hoops, Gary Rohan soaring high into the sky to take a speccy and Mitch Duncan capping off the quarter in style with a barrel on the half time siren from beyond 50.

Dominant Duncan

Duncan was simply sensational.

A career-high four goals to go with 26 disposals, 13 marks and 516 metres gained.

When he wasn’t kicking them through the big sticks himself, he was setting up his teammates with match-high 12 score involvements.

Super Saturday

Three games, three victories.

Geelong’s AFL, VFL and VFLW teams each recorded big wins by a combined 291 points.

AFL – Geelong 21.10 (136) defeated West Coast 5.9 (39)
VFL – Geelong 22.17 (149) defeated AFL Academy 2.7 (19)
VFLW – Geelong 11.9 (75) defeated Darebin 1.5 (11)

It doesn’t get much better than that!

Milestone Men

Two heart and soul players.

Luke Dahlhaus and Rhys Stanley celebrated their 200th and 150th AFL games in style.

This article is supposed to focus on some of the key statistics but sometimes they don’t always tell the full story.

Dahlhaus and Stanley’s energy around the playing group and who they are as people cannot be measured by a kick or handball, what they bring is so much more valuable.

To see them carried off to a standing ovation was a fitting end to a great day for the club.
