The VFLW Bendigo Bank Cats will be striving for their first win of the season when they face Williamstown in their Round 2 clash at Deakin University Elite Sports Precinct at 12pm AEDT on Saturday.

The last time the two sides met was in Round 15 in 2019, where the Cats recorded a convincing 46-point victory and restricted Williamstown to just one goal. The Seagulls will be looking to continue their winning form however after defeating Darebin in their Round 1 match.

Geelong will be aiming to start this weekend’s game with the momentum they finished their season opener with, after kicking three final quarter goals in the two-point defeat. VFLW coach Andrew Bruce credited his side’s tenacity after the narrow loss.

“It’s quite easy sometimes to get four or so goals down and think it’s all going against you, but the belief in their system and each other and their hard work gave them opportunities to score,” Bruce said.

“We know we’re on the right track and we’ll just keep on looking to improve.”
