Name: Nicole Garner

Nickname: Nic, Garner

Favourite footy memory: My first AFLW game in front of a crowd at GMHBA Stadium, Friday night under lights ... stuff dreams are made of!

Greatest non-football achievement: Living and working in Canada for 12 months, playing baseball for Ontario at the Canadian Nationals while I was there.

Best advice you’ve been given (on or off the field): “Be the first to arrive, last to leave and work harder than everyone around you.”

Teammate you’d like to room with on away trips: Maddy Keryk – we room together every Monday in Geelong, she loves a cuppa before bed, doesn’t snore and she’s super easy-going!

Teammate you’d least like to room with on away trips: Sorry Denby (Taylor)….love her, but she’s got a lot of energy!

Funniest teammate: This probably also goes to Denby or Jordi Ivey, both uniquely funny!

Nicole Garner gets a kick away in her debut AFLW match against the Bulldogs

Position other than your own you wish you could play: Ruck, love to be amongst it and would love to take a big pack mark.

Hidden talent/party trick: I can flick a bottle-cap pretty well….is that a talent?

Player from another AFLW team you’d most like to have at the Cats: We’re pretty lucky to have Jess Foley on board as a Ruck coach/Doctor, but I think her ex-teammate Erin Phillips would be a pretty handy pickup for the Cats.

Favourite player from another sport: Ellyse Perry or Ash Barty – both incredible athletes, probably would have been good footballers as well.

If you weren’t playing footy, what sport would you like to play: In hindsight, tennis would have been a great sport to get involved in to chase the summers around the world.

Favourite meal the night before a game: Basil pesto chicken pasta.

Favourite movie: A League of Their Own…but my answer to this probably changes daily!

Favourite TV series: The OC, Brooklyn Nine-Nine or Big Brother (the original)

Favourite singer/band: Sofi Tukker

Dream holiday destination: Greek Islands

One thing you’d like people to know about you: I currently work full-time for Victoria Police but only recently put my application in to join as a Recruit – something I’ve wanted to do for a long time now.
