The AFL has released the fixture for the 2027 AFL Premiership Season, with the Cats set to play 10 home games at GMHBA Stadium for the third consecutive year, while featuring in a number of blockbuster matches throughout the season.

Geelong will open its 2027 campaign against Sydney in the first match of the season at the SCG on Wednesday 17 March, before turning its attention to the iconic Easter Monday clash with Hawthorn in Round 2. As the Cats’ MCG home game for 2027, the traditional rivals will again take centre stage in one of the season’s marquee occasions.

The Cats first game at GMHBA Stadium will come in Round 3 against Richmond on Sunday at 12.30pm, giving Geelong members and supporters an ideal family friendly opportunity to kick-off the first home game of the season, before travelling to Gather Round for the Club’s first match at Barossa Park in Round 4.

The Cats return home for a Saturday twilight game in ANZAC Round (Round 6) against North Melbourne, followed by another Saturday twilight game in Sir Doug Nicholls Round (Round 10) against West Coast, before going head-to-head in blockbuster Friday night clashes against Melbourne (Round 11) and Brisbane (Round 13).

In Round 19 Carlton will return to GMHBA Stadium for the first time since 2020. That meeting was played without a crowd, while the Blues' previous trips down the highway came in 2019, 2018 and before that, 1997. Also making the trip to GMHBA Stadium in 2027 are Essendon, Port Adelaide and Adelaide.

Across the first 16 rounds, the Cats will feature in six Thursday and Friday night games, four Saturday timeslots and three Sunday fixtures – including three Saturday twilight and two Friday night games at GMHBA Stadium.

The Club’s White Out game will return in 2027 for a third year, with one of the season’s most anticipated home events set to be confirmed in the new year.

Geelong will play seven games in Melbourne, five of those at the MCG against Hawthorn (Easter Monday and Rd 17), Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood, while facing St Kilda and Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium.

Geelong members and supporters based in NSW (Swans and Giants), Western Australia (Dockers), South Australia (Saints and Crows) and Queensland (Lions) will have the opportunity to see the Cats live, with matches fixtured across each of those states.

From a football perspective, the Cats will face Brisbane, Hawthorn, Adelaide, Carlton, St Kilda and Essendon twice during the home and away season.

Following Round 16, the Cats will play Hawthorn, Collingwood, Carlton and St Kilda before a Round 21 home game against Port Adelaide which will celebrate 20 years since the Club's 2007 Premiership.

Nine of the Cats' first 16 games will be broadcast live and free on Channel 7, and a further six on Kayo Sports, making a Cats Digital Membership the best way to stay connected to the season wherever you are.

The timeslots for Rounds 17-24 will be confirmed by the AFL during the season next year.

Geelong Cats Chief Operating Officer Marcus King welcomed the Cats’ 2027 Fixture.

“There’s a lot to like about our 2027 fixture, and we’re particularly happy with the mix of opponents and timeslots for our 10 home games at GMHBA Stadium, as well as the opportunity to feature in a number of marquee and primetime matches including the season opener and our Easter Monday MCG home game in Round 2,” King said.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming back Carlton to Geelong, as part of a series of exciting matchups at GMHBA that includes Melbourne and Brisbane as blockbuster Friday night matches.

“With a family-friendly Sunday afternoon timeslot, two primetime Friday night matches and three Saturday twilight games, which has become a great timeslot for fans in recent years, there will be plenty of opportunities for our members and supporters to get along and help us pack out GMHBA Stadium regularly.

“It’s also pleasing to have a strong Melbourne presence in 2027, with seven matches including a blockbuster MCG clash against Collingwood. It ensures our members and supporters in Melbourne have plenty of opportunities to see the Cats throughout the year.

“From a football perspective, the fixture provides a good balance of travel and breaks and a fair spread of double matchups having regard to our top-six finish this year. With nine free-to-air broadcasts, it also provides significant national exposure for our Club, members and partners.

“Before our focus shifts fully to 2027, there is still plenty happening across the Club. We’ve had an excellent trade period, look forward to the draft in November, and are excited for our AFLW team’s upcoming finals campaign after securing a top-four finish in the home and away season.

“As always, we are grateful for the continued support of our members and fans, and we're excited about the momentum that’s building into 2027.”
