Five things we loved about the weekend's AFL and VFL action …
1. TOMAHAWK BOUNCE
The big forward, who recently signed a five-year contract with the Cats, worked his way back into some good form during the win over the Western Bulldogs at Simonds Stadium on Saturday. But it wasn't his marks or kicks that had Hawkins smiling after the match. It was the bounce he took after receiving a cheeky handball from Steve Johnson close to goal during the third quarter. "Just a little fun fact, I think that's the first bounce in my AFL career," a beaming Hawkins told CatsTV after the match. "I was pretty happy about that!"

2. THE RETURN OF MITCH DUNCAN
The star 24-year-old was straight back into stride after spending more than two months on the sidelines with a broken foot. In the absence of suspended skipper Joel Selwood, Duncan added drive and class to the Cats' midfield. He finished with 25 disposals at 88 per cent efficiency and also kicked a goal. It was like he simply continued the brilliant form he was in before he was injured.

3. JOSH CADDY PLAYING THE BARNSTORMING BULL
After some inconsistent form this season, Caddy brought his best to the table on Saturday afternoon. His kicking was a bit wonky early on, but after quarter-time he was the dominant performer on the ground. He showed his ability to be a midfielder of note by amassing 37 disposals at 70 per cent efficiency, 12 clearances, seven tackles and a goal. "Josh Caddy was fantastic, in and under and winning contested ball," his teammate Tom Hawkins said after the game. "His clearance work was great. He's strong, he looked good."

4. BILLIE SMEDTS' VFL FORM
Smedts has been thrown into the midfield in the VFL since returning from a broken collarbone, and he has been something of a revelation in the past two weeks. He was best on ground in the Cats' 26-point loss to Footscray at Simonds Stadium on Sunday, finishing with 27 disposals, six marks, five tackles, four clearances and five inside-50s. He appears all but certain to force his way into the AFL team for Saturday's game against Greater Western Sydney in Canberra.
5. ANOTHER GAME UNDER DANIEL MENZEL'S BELT
Two games, two good performances: that's the state of affairs for the Cats' comeback kid. A week after being limited to two and bit quarters in his return game, Menzel played the full four quarters against the Bulldogs, racking up 19 possessions and five marks in the process. And he showed his class by kicking three impressive goals.
