Five Geelong players have been named in the 2020 All Australian 40-man squad.

Mark Blicavs, Patrick Dangerfield, Cameron Guthrie, Tom Hawkins and Sam Menegola are all in contention to take their place in the side which will be finalised on Thursday.

Dangerfield will join some elite company if he receives his eighth All-Australian blazer, with Gary Ablett Jnr, Mark Riccuito, Robert Harvey and Lance Franklin currently holding the record for most selections.

Hawkins appears to be a leading contender for his third All Australian berth after winning his first Coleman Medal earlier this week.

For Blicavs, Guthrie and Menegola it will be their first time wearing an All Australian blazer if selected.

Blicavs has been used in all areas of the ground and excelled in every position he has been played this season.

He leads the club for one percenters and hitouts, and is ranked in the top six for clearances and contested marks.

Patrick Dangerfield was a member of the 2019 All Australian team.

For Guthrie and Menegola it is the first time they have been selected in the All Australian squad, which is great recognition for their strong contributions this season.

Guthrie has been Geelong’s leading ball winner averaging 22 disposals, four clearances and four tackles per game.

Menegola has been equally impressive in Geelong’s engine room averaging 21 disposals and nearly a goal per game.

Geelong and Port Adelaide had the equal most selections in the squad with five apiece.
