Sam Menegola and Joel Selwood.

Saturday’s match against the Gold Coast Suns will be a special occasion for Cats with Joel Selwood and Gary Ablett Jnr set to celebrate significant milestones.

Selwood will bring up 300 games, while Ablett will play his 350th AFL match.

Speaking to K rock Football post-game, Sam Menegola is motivated to play well and ensure both milestone men have a good day out.

“We will be doing everything we can to make sure that we play really well and hopefully those guys can have a really good day because they deserve it,” Menegola said.

“Not only for what they have given to our game, but to our club and they are great players, great people – so we need to look forward to next week really early and we are really keen to put on a good day for those guys.”

On Sunday the Cats recorded their second win of the season with a three-point win against the Dees.

Geelong may not have been at their best, but it was an important victory as it moved them back inside the top eight.

Menegola was a consistent performer throughout, finishing with a game-high 25 disposals and seven score involvements.

“It was good to get the win, but certainly a lot to work on out of it.”

One of those areas is ball movement.

"We are still working on how we move the ball and attack, so we are definitely a work in progress and that is a part of it."

"We haven’t been as good as we would have liked at executing it.

"We just need to keep working on it with the view that it is not exactly where we would like it just yet, but it is something we are acknowledging and working on and trying to get better at."

Geelong’s Round 5 clash against the Gold Coast Suns at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday is scheduled to commence at 4.35pm.
