GEELONG coach Chris Scott is taking a different approach to this year’s NAB Cup.

In previous years the more senior members of the squad had been eased into the pre-season competition. But this year the Cats took an almost full contingent to Perth to tackle West Coast and Fremantle.

Among the available senior Cats, only Paul Chapman, Andrew Mackie and James Kelly did not play in the double header.

The majority of Geelong's senior list did not play NAB Cup in 2012 until late in the campaign.

''We got some important game time in to most of our list tonight,'' Scott said after the Cats split their games against the Eagles and Dockers.

''We waited last year and I don't believe now that was the right thing to do. I think we will be better placed this season early, than we were last season.

The Cats will face Adelaide at Simonds Stadium in their second hit out on 2 March, with Kelly, Chapman and Mackie expected to take the field.
