The Geelong Cats Historical Society held their final event of the year at GMHBA Stadium on Monday afternoon.

Titled Her Story: Past, Present and Emerging the event celebrated the club’s pioneering women and their role in our great game from the late 1800s to today.

Around 200 attendees witnessed a panel of guest speakers including club director Diana Taylor, VFLW coach Natalie Wood, long serving staff member Mary Kincaid and current AFLW players Georgie Rankin and Millie Brown.

A highlight of the afternoon was the re-creation of Michael Wilson’s famous photo taken at Geelong’s first ever AFLW game. The image shows adoring Geelong fans cheering as AFLW player Georgie Rankin walks towards the crowd.

The Geelong Cats History Society hosts two events per year and membership is free. For further information or enquiries please contacthonouringthepast@geelongcats.com.au.
