The Cats will host either the Sydney Swans or Adelaide in a Friday night preliminary final at the MCG.

The fixture for the remainder of the finals series was announced by the AFL on Saturday night.

Travis Auld, the AFL Executive Team member responsible for the fixture, said the AFL had determined that Geelong should host the preliminary final played on Friday, September 23, as the highest-ranked winner from the weekend’s two qualifying finals. 

The GWS Giants will host their preliminary Final on Saturday, September 24 at Spotless Stadium, with the match time to be confirmed once the Giants’ opponent was known. This match is likely to be played as a twilight fixture.

Auld said this weekend’s first semi-final, to be hosted by the Sydney Swans against the Adelaide Crows had been scheduled as a Saturday night game.

Hawthorn will host the Western Bulldogs at the MCG on Friday night in the Second Semi Final.

All matches in weeks two and three of the Toyota AFL Finals Series will be broadcast live nationally on the Seven Network, Fox Footy and thanks to Telstra, the official AFL Live App.

Ticketing information for the preliminary finals will be released once the semi-finals have been played.
