There were many heroic performers in the Cats' gutsy 10-point win over Greater Western Sydney at Simonds Stadium on Saturday evening.

Joel Selwood led the way with an outstanding final quarter effort that drew high praise from senior coach Chris Scott after the match.

The skipper had started the game slowly, but his work around the clearances when the game was on the line was something to behold.

Zac Smith's effort against Giants big man Shane Mumford was also notable.

Not only did Smith stand tall at the stoppages, he also won plenty of the ball around the ground.

He finished 19 disposals, 31 hit-outs, four tackles and a goal in what was probably his best effort in the hoops so far.

Harry Taylor was another player who held his own against a talented opponent. Taylor held star Giants forward Jeremy Cameron goalless and racked up 14 touches of his own.

Taylor had plenty of help from fellow defender Lachie Henderson, whose form just keeps getting better.

Not only did Hendo do some great work down back, he also snuck forward and bombed through a very nice 55m goal on the run in the third quarter.

Of the forwards, Daniel Menzel returned after a week's break and booted three nice goals, while in the midfield Jimmy Bartel and Cameron Guthrie ran themselves ragged and tallied 52 disposals between them.

We could mention all the rest of the players as well, given they all played their part, but now it's your turn.
