As the Cats prepare to face club great Steve Johnson on Saturday night, the many fans of ‘Stevie J’ have been granted a sneak peak at the cover of his autobiography.

The book, titled Stevie J: The Cat with the Giant story and co-written with Cats Media’s Adam McNicol, will be released in November and is published by Penguin Random House.

“We’re so excited to be publishing Stevie J’s autobiography,” Penguin Random House commissioning editor Cate Blake said.

“Stevie’s many, many fans throughout the AFL community will love this book.”

Johnson began working on the book back in 2015 when he was still a Cats player.

“To be honest, I’ve enjoyed the process of bringing the book together more than I had anticipated, because it forces you to reflect on your career and your own journey,” he said.

“From childhood and family memories, junior footy, getting drafted and success with the Cats, it’s been nice to reflect on friendships and the odd lesson along the way.

“The book is simply my take on my own footballing journey, how I overcame some challenges along the way, and what I love about the game.

“Obviously there is a lot on the Geelong years and the great times I had there.

“Moving to the Giants has been a great experience, and the book covers our desire to be successful over the last two years and laying the foundation for an even more successful future.

“In amongst it all are some great stories of team mates past and present and some insight to what goes on both behind the scenes at a footy club as well as on field.

“Hopefully it’s a book all footy fans will enjoy.”
