Ash Bent and Tash Craven, the owners of Sketch and Etch, have worked with some of Australia’s most well-known companies.
The Grovedale business owners who create unique signage and stationary for functions and events have worked with famous brands including Masterchef, Jaggad and Country Road.
Bent, who grew up in Geelong, attributes his success to “an unrelenting pursuit to constantly innovate and improve, to set trends and not follow”.
Though he believes that success comes from hard work, he does concede that the support of the community does help local businesses when starting out.
“To be successful in a regional town isn't too different to anywhere else; know the problem you are solving for your customer, create a compelling solution that offers incredible value and then work to make sure more and more people know about you.”
“In Geelong, people support other Geelong businesses because they are part of the community. That can make or break you in the early days and really helps reinforce if you are on the right track or need to adjust your path.”
Though Bent is a Melbourne Demons supporter, the design expert believes the Geelong Football Club’s brand is one of the strongest going around.
“It's a strong brand with massive community support behind it, I haven't experienced that anywhere else with an AFL club. The current logo is a great mix between the modern and the traditional with the blue hooped stripes.”
Craven and Bent will share their success story at this month’s Fare on the Field event held on February 15 at GMHBA Stadium.
