A bundle of energy and an absolute livewire in attack, it is always must-watch football anytime that Kate Surman steps onto the park.

Now into her fourth season with the Cats, the experienced forward is set to reach her 75th AFLW game on Friday night.

Surman's journey started in a far different climate to that of Geelong, signing with the Gold Coast Suns and making her AFLW debut in 2020.

Across three seasons in the Sunshine State, she would feature in 26 games at the top level and kicked nine goals, showing plenty of potential and particularly a sense of poise with ball in hand.

The next chapter in her story beckoned midway through 2022, when after Season Six of the AFLW, Surman was traded to Port Adelaide.

Again, she would immediately make her club debut in the opening round of the AFLW's seventh season, collecting 14 disposals and quickly becoming a fan favourite.

But that chapter would be short lived, as Surman spent just the one season at Alberton before being traded to Geelong ahead of the 2023 season.

She instantly transformed the Cats attack and showed why she is so highly regarded, finishing with 17 disposals, two goals and seven tackles in her Hoops debut against the Western Bulldogs.

Continuing to be a staple of the Cats line-up, Surman has played 38 AFLW games in her time at Geelong, often utilised as the prime connector between the midfield and key forwards.

She has consistently been a threat around the big sticks, kicking 21 goals across her career and assisting in countless others, while still maintaining her high standard through to the 2026 season.

It will culminate in another significant milestone for the small forward, as Surman prepares to play her 75th AFLW game this Friday, when Geelong takes on Richmond at IKON Park.Â
