The Smithy’s VFL and VFLW Grand Finals will be played as a double-header at IKON Park on Sunday, September 20. It will be the first time since 2019 that both premiership deciders will be played at the same venue on the same day.

The Smithy’s VFL Grand Final will follow at 2:05pm where the Geelong Cats and Box Hill Hawks meet in another premiership decider.

Geelong was the dominant side of the 2026 home and away season, finishing the regular campaign with a 16-2 record to claim the minor premiership. The Cats then defeated Tasmania by 23 points in the first qualifying final, before accounting for Port Melbourne by 47 points in the first preliminary final.

Geelong last won the VFL premiership in 2012 and has not played a VFL Grand Final since the 2013 loss to the Hawks.

Both head coaches will be looking to etch their name into folklore by winning a premiership as both a player and coach with their respective club. Geelong coach Mark Corrigan was a member of Geelong’s 2012 premiership team before coaching the Casey Demons to the 2022 flag.

Admission prices for the 2026 Smithy’s VFL and VFLW Grand Finals are adults $20, concession/pensioners $15 and children under 15 free, which includes entry to both matches.
