If there is one thing that Cats fans can count on, it is that their team will always show up and give it everything they have, no matter the situation or the circumstances. 

That notion was on show again last week, as Geelong battled back from a slow start, some inaccuracy in front of the big sticks and a roaring Carlton crowd, to eventually storm home and secure a massive Elimination Final victory at the MCG. 

The Cats now progress to face one of the biggest tests in football this year, heading west to take on Fremantle at Optus Stadium in a blockbuster Semi-Final. 

Geelong have squared off with the Dockers twice this year, securing a 10-point win in Round 1 before falling by nine points in Round 15, with another tough contest expected to play out on Friday with a spot in a Preliminary Final at stake. 

Despite the task awaiting them, Blicavs told media on Monday that it is a challenge the Cats will embrace in their Semi-Final, as they look to progress to a 15th Preliminary Final in the last 20 years. 

"Always, always full of belief," Blicavs said. 

"The club, the coaches and the football staff set up the list and the way we play, that we can go into every game as confident as we can be, to believe we can win every game.

"This week is no exception.

"We understand it is a huge task ahead of us, but we are going to prep really well. As I said, we go into every game confident.

"We have had a couple of really close, good battles with the Dockers this year. We are expecting the same again this week."

Prior to playing an important role in Geelong's victory over Carlton, Blicavs provided another highlight in the build-up as the club announced he had re-signed through to the end of the 2027 season. 

When asked whether the decision to play on was easy, the experienced Cat had a simple answer. 

"Yeah it was," Blicavs said. 

"I love this club and always want to play here.

"The question was does the club want me and do I want to play here, but we both aligned.

"It was a very easy decision. 'Mack' and I are always pretty close, and have these open conversations. It was very smooth and easy."

Geelong's win in last Friday's Elimination Final will now see them progress to a Semi-Final in the west, set to take on the minor premiers, Fremantle at Optus Stadium. 

The Dockers were exceptional throughout the home-and-away season, finishing with a 19-4 record and clear on top of the ladder, securing their first minor premiership since 2015. 

Throughout the campaign, the two sides have already faced each other twice, the Cats coming up short in the most recent meeting but it occurred in a game where they were missing Bailey Smith and Tom Stewart. 

With an absolute blockbuster battle awaiting, Blicavs said he and the playing group are excited to get to Perth and to test themselves against the competition's strongest team across the regular season. 

"Yeah I am really excited, it is going to be a massive game," Blicavs said. 

"We played them twice this year, going one and one.

"They are a really tough opponent and there are no real holes in their game, or any lines across the forwards, mids and backs.

"We are going to expect their best, a sold out crowd and it is going to be amazing. We are really looking forward to it."
