The Geelong Football Club will unveil another AFLW debutant this weekend, with exciting prospect Renee Morgan set to pull on the Hoops for the first time in the Cats' clash with Essendon at GMHBA Stadium. 

Morgan will become Geelong's fourth AFLW debutant this year, following Priya Bowering, Emma Murray and Evie Cowcher, who all featured in their first game against North Melbourne in Round 1. 

A talented on-baller out of Western Australia, Morgan's AFLW journey commenced when she was selected by the Cats in the 2025 AFLW draft, renowned for her ability to impact the contest both offensively and defensively. 

Her consistency was a feature during her time with South Fremantle, notably averaging 17 disposals and eight tackles per game across the 2025 season, but her numbers rarely wavered during three years with the club. 

It was at the National Championships where Morgan truly announced herself, playing a combination of midfield and forward for Western Australia while averaging over 18 disposals and three clearances per game, ultimately firming her draft chances. 

Described as a great contested player, Morgan brought a natural ability and exquisite skills on both sides of her body, with the Cats selecting the classy midfielder with pick 43 in the 2025 draft. 

Throughout her first pre-season at the club, the emerging talent put her best foot forward and impressed both her teammates and the coaching staff, looking to add a new dynamic to Geelong's line-up in 2026. 

Morgan went on to make three appearances with Geelong's VFLW team late in their season, helping to guide them to three wins and certainly impressing individually, collecting 18 disposals and a goal in her VFLW debut against Casey. 

In last week's victory over Port Melbourne, Morgan was simply brilliant as she collected 20 disposals in the opening half, more than double the next best Geelong player, while also adding five tackles and seven clearances. 

Morgan's terrific form has earned her an AFLW debut this weekend, an apt reward for a strong body of work in her inaugural season with the Cats. 

Geelong will take on Essendon this Sunday at GMHBA Stadium, as they look to continue building their momentum after recording two consecutive victories.
