Humphries on the bye

I had a bit of a break, which was good.

Still trained throughout the week which was nice, but it is always nice to have some time off.

I went and watched the VFL on Saturday and they had a good win, watched a bit of local footy too.

Felt like I didn't get away from footy too much, but that is not too bad at this time of year.

It is all very exciting, Finals is obviously a really exciting time so it is good to not play and let the body recover, but still be around footy. 

Humphries on the benefit of a week off

I guess 10 years ago when they didn't have the week off, there was a real benefit to finishing in the top four.

I definitely think having the week off prior to Finals is definitely a bit of a benefit.

But they are playing well, they are one of those teams that have a lot of momentum. Sometimes, probably in their case, having a bye might slow that momentum.

So they are probably not going to complain too much about that, they are playing good footy and have a lot of guys contributing. Regardless, they are going to be really dangerous. 

Humphries on Carlton's high half forwards

I think naturally as a defender, you have to do a little bit of defending. I know half backs, you normally do a lot of attacking from there and drive the offence.

But like you say, their high half forwards are playing really well. You have got Byrne there as well, Franky Evans is playing really well, so they have a few guys up there that are playing really good footy.

I think they are definitely going to present a challenge, they play really well at the 'G too.

We will just do our work during the week, watch our vision and do some analysis on that.

But we are comfortable with where we are at and what we can do, but we do also respect the opponent and they are a really good side. Those high half forwards are playing really good footy. 

Humphries on working with Nathan Buckley

I have loved it, I feel like he has given me a lot of confidence to really attack my game.

I have tried to develop my game and to take the next step, to become a really damaging half back. I think he has been really good, he was obviously a really good player himself and hearing it from a guy of the calibre, we are very lucky as a club.

We will do a bit of vision during the week. But even at training sessions, if I miss a kick or if I look a little bit frustrated with how I am going, he is usually pretty quick onto me to reset me.

But he always keeps backing me and tells me to keep going for it, which is really good.

As a club, we are really striving for excellence and having a guy that, even when you make mistakes, tries to lift you up is really beneficial and helps me a lot. 

Humphries on Carlton's strengths

I think they are really strong around the ground.

Even when they haven't been going well, they still have the weapons that on their day, they can beat anyone. Their midfield is really strong, their spine is really strong with really good key forwards and key backs.

I have always thought, even last year when they weren't going as well, they still beat us and they have got some really good players. When their crowd get up and about, they really lift.

They have a really good side, really good fanbase and when they get up and about, they can really play some good footy.

That is where you just have to respect them and understand that is what the assignment is this week.
