Scott on how Thursday night unfolded

It was a really strange game.

To give up eight goals in the first quarter was obviously disappointing, and we fed their game way too much. In the end, they were able to score from our turnovers in the back half, which was a bit uncharacteristic.

But it was made even worse when you go in understanding that if you give them goals, they are going to kick some that are hard to stop anyway. So that combination is the way it played out early.

They really took their chances too, their kicking for goal was really good and ours was poor.

It was a strange game in that probably for more than 50% of the game, we were in control of it and either couldn't take our chances when we generated them, or allowed them back into the game with some basic errors.

Scott on Geelong's recent form

A point to the Crows in Adelaide, nine points to Freo in a game we thought we had a good enough chance to win.

Best team in the comp tonight, Carlton we didn't play very well but lost by a few points.

Context is important, but you also shouldn't mistake my observation for us being okay with it.

We still think we are going well enough to beat anyone, anywhere and we have had the chance to do that over the past five weeks.

Scott on the slow start

The turnovers, so that is what I was referring to.

They got a couple of lucky ones early, then that gets them up and about. Then they kicked a few really good goals and then we gave them a few and before you know it, it is six or seven and they end up kicking eight.

It was a fantastic effort to stabilise the game and give ourselves a chance to win, and we well and truly thought that even with a poor third quarter again, that we were still in the game.

It was just a strange game statistically as well, I am not the biggest advocate that the stats paint the full picture of games. But what it does tell you, when you win the inside 50 count by that much and can't capitalise, that says something.

Most of the statistical categories were at least good enough for us to think we were a chance to win the game, but I thought it was more isolated incidents.

Scott on Jeremy Cameron

I mean he is going through a bit of a flat spot at the moment, there is no doubt about that.

But I do remember getting these questions the week before he kicked 11, so if he doesn't kick at least 10 next week, I will be flat.

I don't think anyone other than him knows that for sure, but the feedback we are getting is that he is well and truly good enough to play. I think he can take it as read, that we do not play players that we don't think can perform.

We tend to give our champions a little bit more room than maybe some others, and we are really confident that he will find his way through it.
