Scott on facing Luke Jackson

Overconfidence is a much bigger problem in this game I think.

I don't think it is good policy to come up against a champion and say we will be fine. It is better to be a bit wary of what he is capable of, while still maintaining the confidence in the guys we have.

Again, without being overconfident, we feel like we have a variety of options. We have been really pleased with the way De Koning has been going in there, Edwards is obviously the big ruckman, Blicavs is different again and Shannon Neale is different to that again.

I don't think it will be that different to previous weeks, in that we won't be thinking we have only got one option and if that doesn't work, we are in big trouble.

Scott on whether Geelong will take a bigger squad to Perth

Probably, but that is not uncommon for us.

As you know, and I am happy to explain it. When we name a team and especially on short breaks and we have some doubt over those players, rather than make a call 48 hours beforehand, if there is any chance that they play then we tend to name them.

Then we give them right up until the last minute to prove their fitness. When you have the added complication of having to jump on a plane the odds are that we tend to take those guys if we think they are a chance to play.

There is another wrinkle as well this week in that we have a bye afterwards, so we have a number of players who are West Australian or want to be West Australians, who are going over and are going to spend a bit of time over there.

We will likely have a bigger squad than normal.

Scott on Geelong's Ruck Stocks

Again, we are very respectful of Luke Jackson in particular. [Sean] Darcy may well be available, Mason Cox is doing a job for them as well.

We are optimistic around how we are going in the short term there, but I think the more pleasing thing is that it gives us some real confidence about the long term.

The guys that we are playing in the ruck, with the exception of Blicavs, are at the start of their career.

Every now and again, I throw in Toby Conway's name because I don't think it is a bad thing to let people know that while he is a long way off, he is still very much in our thoughts.

If we can get him back to full fitness, then it is going to give us real confidence that we have got a bright future with our young ruckmen.

Scott on Tom Stewart's availability

I haven't got any update there, but it is not unusual.

I think as we have said before, especially when it comes to the concussion protocols, we don't ask as a coaching group for a running commentary. We just are informed around availability when and if it happens.

So we haven't got that yet, but there is still a bit of time. We obviously train today, before we get on a plane tomorrow, so that will work itself out.

I am not really sure there, there are probably a few others in that category around availability that I can't help you with.

Scott on Jack Bowes

Yeah he is good. I shouldn't say that, because we are going to train. My expectation is that he is good.

Again, I will quickly walk you through it, which I don't normally do. We trained on Tuesday last week and he had a bit of hamstring tightness, so again, we wanted to leave it up until the last minute.

He was probably 50-50 to play a couple of hours before the game, decided to be cautious on it.

I think if I really pushed our medical staff now, they would say look, on balance he could have played, which is why I am confident that he will come up this week.
