Scott on what pleased him most

Look, we played well and obviously we are very respectful and aware of the threats that the opposition can present.

I don't think going into the game that either side would have thought that they are absolutely at their best yet. I said pre-game in some media that sometimes it can make it a little bit more daunting, because you know the capacity within that group.

The slippery conditions made it a little bit harder for them to play the way wanted early, but having said that, the number of scoring shots and the way we were able to take away some of their game.

In some ways when you play them, the theory is easy and the execution is very hard. The idea of what you are trying to do is pretty simple, but that doesn't mean it is easy.

Scott on Shaun Mannagh

Yeah, it was a really good game.

He has been building into the year, the last few weeks he has started to look like himself a little bit more. But he is a very, very good player full stop.

But with the slippery conditions, there are some guys that feel and look a bit more at home in those conditions. He is such a smart, clever player and his ball-handling, even when others are finding it hard, is elite.

I thought it was a pretty high-level game in terms of dangerous, small forwards around goal and both teams looked their most dangerous in that part of the ground to my eye.

He was the outstanding one of all those, which is saying something.

Scott on the main focus against Brisbane

They have got a few modes of attack.

They are quite happy to control the ball, they have got some elite ball-users as well so that can be hard to shutdown at times. They can penetrate and play with speed as well, they have got so much talent in their front half. If they get a half decent look, they are going to be dangerous.

The defensive mechanism to stifle that is complicated. You can put all your eggs in one basket and just get opened up the other way, but if you do sit back too much against them, you just never get the ball back.

Without going into too much detail, we asked some more questions of them because if you let them have the game their way, you might not lose by that much but you certainly won't win.

Scott on the dominant third quarter

It was a bit frustrating because statistically we had more scoring shots and we weren't able to make the most of that advantage.

But then in the third quarter, when we put them under a little bit more pressure going forward, we won the ball around the middle. Which again, it is easy to say against them but it is hard to do against that quality.

A few fell our way, the modern game is such a game of momentum. It is hard with the way the rules are, almost universally I support them as a football person, I hate them as a coach because it makes it really difficult to close down that momentum.

But on the flip side when you have it, you've got to ride it, especially against a team like this because you know they are always going to come back.
