Geelong has selected Nicole Garner with pick 50 in the 2019 NAB AFLW Draft.

Garner joins the Cats following a standout season with Casey in the VFLW competition where she co-captained the side.

Prior to her time at Casey, Garner won a premiership and best and fairest with the Gippsland Galaxy, and has also competed in baseball at an elite level.

“Nicole missed most of 2018 with injury but managed to come back into the fold this year and have a really good VFLW season with Casey,” AFLW/VFLW Recruiting and Operations Manager Ben Waller said.

“It is a funny story with Nicole – She actually came to our very first talent ID day down at Geelong three years ago, so we actually must have missed her on that day, but it is great that she has eventually been able to find her way onto our AFLW list.”

“Nicole obviously gives us a bit more leadership in the program and will be able to play a lot of different roles.”
