Vale Leigh Crawford - 19 April 1946 to 27 April 2026

It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Leigh Crawford following a long illness.

Crawford represented the Geelong Football Club as a ruckman during the 1974–75 VFL seasons.

Standing at 199cm and weighing 89kg, Leigh used his height and athleticism to great effect around the ground.

Debuting for Geelong in 1974 at the age of 27, and wearing the No. 32 guernsey, he played 31 senior games across two seasons - 14 matches in his first year and 17 in 1975.

Across his VFL career he recorded 354 disposals (233 kicks, 121 handballs), 114 marks and six goals, contributing consistently in a challenging era for the Club.

Before joining Geelong, Leigh began his senior football journey with the Sunshine Football Club in the VFA, where he established himself as a strong and reliable ruckman.

Leigh had just celebrated his 80th birthday on 19 April. He is remembered fondly for his contribution to the Cats and for the part he played in our Club’s history.

We extend our sincere condolences to the Crawford family. Rest in peace Leigh.
