Scott on his takeaways from Thursday night
It wasn't a game full of highlights, it was a grind for both teams.
Potentially it was going to be a really frustrating night for us because even though we weren't executing very well, it felt like we had control of the game for large periods. At least statistically, it felt like the game was going okay.
But it is amazing how often against really good teams, when you have the momentum you know at some point is going to turn, because of an individual. I am thinking about Rankine and his front and square or Rachele's goal.
When you play the Crows, you almost need to accept that those guys are going to do some pretty special things every now and again.
But it becomes frustrating when you haven't been taking your chances.
Scott on the Cats' hot start
We thought we were sharp early and the conditions were a little hard to assess, because there was quite heavy rain leading up to the game.
Then when the game started, it looked like you could handle the ball pretty well. I thought we adapted well, it was one of those games where there was a few showers that changed the way you needed to play.
To their credit, I thought the Crows did adapt to those conditions in the second quarter and made it a bit harder for us.
The start was a positive that was for sure, against really high quality opposition too.
Scott on how the game plan changed in the conditions
A little bit but the risk is that if you open it up too much, then you get scored against the other way, which actually did happen a little bit.
The way I would probably think about it is, who would you rather be?
I think I would still rather be the team with the ball up their end, in congestion rather than the one trying to counter attack all the time. There is no doubt that it wears on a team on a night like that, so later in the game it can be difficult when you do get your chances, to have the run to really hurt the opposition.
For the second game in a row, at least to the naked eye it looked that we were really running well towards the end of the game.
It is easy to say that when the scoreboard goes your way, but I thought it felt like we had some guys that were covering the ground well.
Scott on Sam De Koning
We were really impressed by his game tonight.
I am glad you brought him up, because if you didn't then I would have.
Again, we don't want to be too effusive of the opposition, but if Thilthorpe ever wants to play anywhere other than Adelaide then we are happy to have him.
Their forward line for a long, long time now has been really potent, so it was a tough job for our defenders. At times they didn't have much help either, they just had to do the job one-on-one.
I was really pleased for Sam, I thought that was as well as he has played for a long time.
