Patrick Dangerfield and Tom Stewart will again lead the Geelong Cats as captain and vice-captain respectively for the 2026 season.

It is set to be Dangerfield's fourth consecutive season as captain of the Cats, after taking over the reins from Joel Selwood at the end of 2022.

Stewart continues as vice-captain for the fifth straight year, after the star defender was elevated into the role prior to the 2022 season.

Geelong Cats Executive General Manager – Football Andrew Mackie said: “We are fortunate as a Club to have the leadership impact of Patrick and Tom. Their pivotal presence within the playing group speaks for itself, not just in performance, but in the way they care for and support their teammates.

“We're excited to have them guiding the Cats again into 2026.”

It could potentially be a historic and record-breaking campaign ahead for Dangerfield, who sits just 16 games out of the top-10 players for most career games in V/AFL history.

Stewart is also within striking distance of some major milestones heading into 2026, sitting just nine games away from his 200th AFL game.

Heading into his 10th season at the top level, Stewart holds an incredible resume which includes a premiership, five All-Australian selections and two Carji Greeves Medals.
