A day that is full of excitement and anticipation every year, the final day of the AFL trade period typically sees a flurry of exchanges as players and draft picks swap clubs.
Geelong has typically been a very busy team on the final day of the trade period, executing a number of changes in recent years and bringing in the likes of Jeremy Cameron and Bailey Smith in the dying moments.

2024 AFL Trade Period
One of the most publicised deals in the club's history came right down to the wire, with Geelong and the Western Bulldogs finally agreeing to terms that saw Bailey Smith become a Cat.
There would have been a few nervous Geelong fans as the trade was processed in the final minutes of the 2024 trade period, but the Cats got their man in a three-club exchange that included St Kilda, with a flurry of draft picks changing hands.

2023 AFL Trade Period
A final day deal in 2023 saw the Cats send Esava Ratugolea to Port Adelaide, receiving three draft picks back from the Power.
In the not-so-distant future, this trade could be a famous one for Geelong with those draft picks turning into Mitch Edwards, George Stevens and Lawson Humphries.

2022 AFL Trade Period
The Cats parted with pick 25 and Cooper Stephens on the final day of the 2022 trade period, receiving Ollie Henry as part of a three-team swap.
After two seasons with Collingwood, Henry joined the Cats and has played 60 games across the past three years with the club.

2021 AFL Trade Period
Geelong had their hands full on the last day of proceedings in 2021, pushing through three separate deals with a number of different draft picks changing clubs.
The most notable deal saw Jordan Clark head to Fremantle in exchange for pick 22, while the Cats also secured Jonathan Ceglar and gave away Darcy Fort to Brisbane.
Ceglar would play nine AFL games for Geelong over two years, while pick 22 was used to select Toby Conway in the 2021 national draft.

2020 AFL Trade Period
Potentially the biggest trade in the competition's history was executed in the final moments of the 2020 trade period, with superstar forward Jeremy Cameron joining Geelong ahead of the 2021 AFL season.
The Cats had to give away plenty to secure the Coleman Medallist, sending three first round draft picks to the Giants in a deal that boiled down to the dying minutes before the trade deadline.
The payoff has been huge with Cameron becoming a premiership player with Geelong, winning another Coleman Medal, a Carji Greeves Medal and three All-Australian blazers within five years at the club.

2019 AFL Trade Period
Another trade period where the Cats executed three exchanges on the last day, 2019 was a busy period as Geelong secured two players with Josh Jenkins and Jack Steven coming to the club.
Jenkins played two games in two years for the Cats, while Steven featured in nine games across the 2020 season.
