The 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup Tour made a special stop in Geelong this morning, with Geelong Cats great Cameron Ling welcoming the prized silverware back to his old primary school, surrounded by excited students – including his son Ged.

The visit added to the buzz sweeping through Geelong this week, with the city gripped by finals fever ahead of the Cats’ highly anticipated preliminary final against long-standing rivals Hawthorn on Friday night.

The Premiership Cup Tour is giving fans in every state and territory across Australia the chance to see one of football’s most iconic trophies up close and personal in the lead-up to the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

Claiming three AFL Premierships throughout his 246-game career with Geelong, Ling said it was a privilege to bring the Cup home to his old school.

“It’s always special when the Cup comes back to Geelong – my local community where I grew up, went to school, and first kicked the footy,” Ling said.

“To see the kids here today so excited reminds me of when I was their age, dreaming of one day playing for the Cats. Having the Premiership Cup visit schools and communities like this can spark that same dream for the next generation – and that’s what makes this tour so worthwhile.”

The Premiership Cup Tour will continue in regional Victoria this week before making its way to Melbourne ahead of the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final.
