Miers on whether this week feels different
Not for me, it has been a bit of normality for me.
It has been six out of seven year that I have played, I have been in a Prelim.
Hopefully try and get the record back to three and three [wins], we have put ourselves in great positions consistently and then get to this stage and sometimes let ourselves down, or get unlucky.
It is in our control which is the fun part.
Miers on the shift between the 2024 and 2025 Cats
Yes, but we are also a different side.
We were in the lead of the Prelim last year, with two minutes to go so you can't really get much closer than that, apart from finishing the job.
We have probably put ourselves in a better position this year to finish off that kind of stuff, that we didn't do last year. We failed in some games last year, where as we haven't this year.
I am very confident in what we can produce, I think last year also helped in what we are able to do this year.
Miers on the victory over Brisbane
It was huge for us.
I heard all that noise and there was doubts within your own head, of how the preparation is and what we are doing.
I think we delivered in those last six weeks really well. Each game it wasn't like we were playing a team lesser than us, we had to do it the right way and we did it the right way each week and in different ways.
We were prepared for the Friday night against Brisbane, that if the game looked different then we could deliver. I don't think it was the way we scripted it, but we delivered when it mattered and did it in all different ways.
We did a great job and I was very proud of the boys that day.
Miers on his new midfield role
I think the coaches just decided it was about time.
I have been a hybrid mid-forward for the last two to three years, I think they just decided that with the addition of Jack Martin, the way Brad Close and Shaun Mannagh are going, that they can use me in different ways.
Thanks to the other boys in the midfield, I have been able to compliment them well and they are complimenting me well, it has worked really well in that last little bit of the season.
Now I think we are in a good position that we have different strengths as a midfield group and as a forward group, I think we saw in that Brisbane game that we can all play in different positions.
I didn't know where I was going to line up, but it is the best strength that we have.
Miers on the different intensity in a Preliminary Final
There is definitely a different energy, it is a fantastic energy.
When you win that first week you have got two weeks to build into it, so some nights you are confident and some nights you are nervous.
There is a bit of a change up and getting that mentality right but once the ball is bounced, it is pretty cliche that it is just another game of footy.
The intensity is higher but the coolest head always prevails, I think that is an important thing is just to stay calm and do what you have done all year, do what you have done your whole career.
Miers on playing at the MCG
I love playing at the MCG, so I am pretty happy to play there this week.
I think it is the best place to play football in Australia, it has such good tradition and history behind it that I love playing there.
You have to win the Grand Final at the MCG, so getting that practice in if we were to win this game, we have had three games in a row there now which is a good lead in.
I am pretty happy to play there and it suits my game, so I am happy to keep going there.
