Geelong will return home in Round 3 of the AFLW season, as they prepare to take on the Sydney Swans at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The first two weeks of the season have followed a similar pattern for the Cats: taking up the challenge against two of the competition's top teams, only to fade late in the final quarter of both matches.
This week’s task is no easier, as they face a Sydney side coming off their biggest score and biggest win in AFLW history.
Check out all the key details ahead of the Cats' battle with the Swans in Round 3.
KEY DETAILS
2025 AFLW Season - Round 3
Geelong Cats v Sydney Swans
GMHBA Stadium, Geelong
Saturday August 30th, 3.05pm (AEST)
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Geelong: Claudia Gunjaca
Often matched up against the opposition's best forward, Gunjaca has become the focal point of Geelong's defence and was at her best in Sunday's clash with Adelaide, putting together a strong start to the season.
The star defender picked off a game-high nine intercept possessions against the Crows, following on from her seven intercept possessions against the Kangaroos in the opening round.
Geelong's will need to tighten up defensively if they want to record their first win of the season this weekend, expect Gunjaca to be a key part of that against the Swans.
Sydney: Chloe Molloy
After missing nearly the entire 2024 AFLW season, Molloy has returned with a bang in 2025 helping steer Sydney to two consecutive wins to open their campaign.
The star Swan showed no signs of rust in Round 1 kicking four goals from 14 disposals, backing that with a stunning seven-goal haul in Round 2 against Gold Coast.
Leading the AFLW for goals, score involvements and marks inside 50, Molloy is in hot form and the Cats will need to find a way to limit her impact on Saturday.
RECENT HISTORY - Geelong v Sydney
Geelong has dominated this matchup since Sydney entered the competition in 2022, winning all three matches by a combined margin of 105 points.
The most recent clash between the two sides was an entertaining battle, with Geelong holding on late despite inaccuracy in front of the big sticks to claim a three point victory.
