A pair of Geelong's top players have been recognised for their strong performances on Saturday afternoon, with Georgie Prespakis and Mikayla Bowen both featuring in the coaches votes for Round 1.
Prepsakis lead the way for the Cats and was awarded a team-high five coaches votes, collecting 23 disposals and eight clearances against the Kangaroos at GMHBA Stadium.
The star on-baller was able to generate plenty of run and carry to help her side move the footy down the field, pushing forward to record six inside 50 entries while also laying three tackles inside forward 50 to cap off a stellar display.
Mikayla Bowen was brilliant in Round 1 and received four votes from the coaches, amassing career-highs in disposals (27) and contested possessions (11), while also picking off eight intercept possessions and laying eight tackles to have a strong impact at both ends of the ground.
Every week, the two senior coaches for each game give votes on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis, meaning 10 votes is the maximum a player can get in each round.
The player with the most votes at the end of the home and away season will win the Sharp EIT Solutions AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.
