Scott on the focus over the next two weeks

It is so tight, I would be surprised if any team plays one game in the Finals and thinks beautiful, we don't need to think about how we might adjust next week or think about the opposition.

My view is that if these days ever existed they are long gone now, where you just disregard the way the opposition set up. We think that hopefully those evolutions and those little tweaks will be smaller, but it is obviously so tight so there is no room for mucking around or experimenting.

We are still trying to improve our game, we think we have some areas that we can work on. Fortunately for the most part, we have had pretty good stability and cohesion with our personnel.

For example, every game that Jack Martin can get with his teammates I think is going to improve his understanding of the way they play, and the way we want to play collectively.

We still see the opportunities left in those two games.

Scott on Guthrie, Duncan and Kolodjashnij playing VFL

They are both going to play which is good, it is exciting for us.

Cam just had a little bit of an unrelated hiccup to his previous injury, otherwise he would have played last week. It is good for him to get some game time, so we are optimistic and open minded as to what the next few weeks might look like for them.

Kolodjashnij getting another game probably fits in that category as well.

Scott on the absence of Brodie Grundy

Ladhams I'm assuming will come in, McLean is a pretty seasoned player now.

Grundy has been in good form, but I don't think it is as if they are going from the best ruckman in the comp to someone significantly below him.

We have got a lot of respect for what Ladhams can do.

Scott on Geelong's own ruck stocks

We are still unsure as to what Toby's [Conway] issue is. There is a strong case that this would be a minor setback for him, but with one VFL game to go a minor setback still limits your options.

The other way of looking at our squad, we tend to play a lot of guys at any one time who can all play in the ruck.

Shannon Neale is 203cm, we are confident that he will do more ruck work over time. Blicavs has been a unique player for a long time, De Koning is a 204cm key back.

It is not as if we are just looking outside of the 23 that play for ruck backups, we think we have got them within the team as well.

Scott on whether Dangerfield, Martin and Henry will play

They will be in the squad that we release tonight.

Obviously the Thursday before a Sunday game, it is just a wider squad tonight.

You know me well enough to know that I don't announce our 22 this far out, but those three guys will be in our squad.

Scott on managing the end of the VFL season

It is a challenge, it is not ideal having a bye going into Finals when there is an AFL bye after that.

I think there is a possibility that we will get some match practice against another team in that week, which will obviously be helpful. Then the training part of it, which you know we rate really highly as well, I think gives those guys an opportunity to be available through the period.

I don't think it is a long enough period of time to think, they just haven't had enough footy to be considered. We would prefer them to have played a little bit more, but most clubs go through these issues towards the end of the year.

You can't have much say in your schedule, you can't have much say whether your VFL team makes the Finals and those sort of things.
