Geelong has selected their team for Saturday's blockbuster clash with the Kangaroos, as they prepare to kick off the 2025 season at GMHBA Stadium.
As announced by coach Dan Lowther earlier today, Emma Kilpatrick and Piper Dunlop will both make their AFLW debut this weekend with the pair named to take on the reigning premiers.
At just 19 years of age, Kilpatrick is a highly-skilled and hard running player who can impact on the wing or in defence, a member of the South Australian Under 18 National Championships squad last season and finished runner-up in West Adelaide’s Best & Fairest award.
Dunlop joined the Cats in the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft after spending last year on the Cats’ VFLW list, an athletic ruck who comes from a basketball background and impressed over the Cats’ pre-season matches, most notably showing promise against the Gold Coast Suns with her ruck work and contested marking.
In total there are six changes to Geelong's team that featured in the final round of the 2024 AFLW season, with emerging talents Kate Kenny and Bryde O'Rourke also set to feature on Saturday in their second seasons with the Cats.
