PLAYERS TO WATCH
Geelong: Rhys Stanley
A crucial factor in Saturday's game will be the clearance battle and it all starts in the ruck, with Rhys Stanley coming into Round 18 in scintillating form after a dominant display against Richmond.
The veteran Cat amassed 21 disposals, 31 hit-outs and 10 score involvements against the Tigers, helping Geelong to win the clearance battle (+9) for just the fourth time this season.
The Giants have not been the strongest team around stoppages but did come out on top (+8 clearances) in their most recent outing, with the contest through the middle of the ground set to be pivotal on Saturday afternoon and for Geelong, it all starts with Stanley.
GWS Giants: Tom Green
Speaking of the midfield battle, there are not many better on-ballers in the competition right now than Tom Green.
The Giants star has the second highest disposal average (31.2 per game) of any player in the AFL in 2025, also ranked first in the competition for contested possessions and second for clearances.
Green was dominant in the last meeting between Geelong and GWS accumulating 37 disposals, six clearances and 11 score involvements to help the Giants hang on for a four point win.
RECENT HISTORY - Geelong v GWS
Geelong will need to reverse the trend in Saturday's clash, with GWS dominating recent history between the two teams winning six of the last eight games dating back to 2019.
Interestingly though the six losses for Geelong have come by an average of 11.6 points, with four of the matches decided by seven points or less.
The Cats have not visited ENGIE Stadium since 2020 and have only been there four times in total registering two wins, one loss and a draw.
